Streaming. "Alien: Earth": Three reasons to watch the return of the extraterrestrial monsters on Disney+

The Alien: Earth series arrives on Disney+ starting this Wednesday, August 13th. It's a significant arrival in more ways than one. We'll explain why.
Begun in 1979 with The Eighth Passenger , Alien , the legendary science fiction saga created by Ridley Scott, is now available as a series with Alien: Earth , available on Disney+ from this Wednesday 13th August (at a weekly rate). An important arrival in more ways than one. Why We'll explain it to you.
Because it's the talented Noah Hawley at the helm of the first Alien series. For the first time in its history, the Alien saga is being adapted into a series. A risky project for multiple reasons, between the risk of disappointing fans of the universe and the need to reconcile the tension of the horror genre in a multi-episode series (in this case, eight).
Alien : Earth fortunately has an ace up its sleeve, with the presence of the talented Noah Hawley as series director (or showrunner ). Among the series he has directed are the psychedelic Legion (on Disney+) and Fargo (on Prime Video and Canal+). The latter successfully brought the universe of the cult Coen brothers' film into an anthology series where dark humor is omnipresent. In Alien : Earth , the atmosphere will inevitably be much more distressing.

For the first time, an Alien story won't take place in space but on our good old planet. In 2120, Earth is ruled by five corporations (including the fan-favorite Weyland-Yutani). A world turned upside down by the day the Prodigy Corporation introduced hybrids, humanoid robots with human consciousness.
When a Weyland-Yutani spaceship crashes on Earth, Wendy (Sydney Chandler), the first hybrid created, leads an expedition to encounter life forms that are both mysterious and terrifying.
Obviously, we will see the Aliens (or Xenomorphs as they are called in the saga), but beyond a spaceship, they will evolve in other confined spaces closer to us, like whitish meeting rooms or overprotected villas. The series succeeds in recreating all the necessary terror around their appearances (it is logically not recommended for those under 16).
But the series is also clever in its way of developing themes present since the first film, and making them resonate with our current events, whether it be the weight of corporations on our society, the irresponsibility of their leaders, or the impact of artificial intelligence. Alien : Earth therefore succeeds in transposing the universe of the films into a series. And that's no small feat...
Alien : Earth , on Disney+ starting this Wednesday, August 13.
